What is a multicopter?
Multicopters are rotorcraft with multiple rotors, at least more than two.
A rotor is a rotating part of a mechanical device.
The great advantage of the multicopter is the simpler rotor mechanics required for flight control.
Unlike known helicopters with double rotors, this new system allows easy control of the flight,by
varying each rotor’s speed using fixed pitch blades instead of variable pitch rotors.
The terms tricopter, quadcopter, hexacopter and octocopter refer to three, four, six and eight rotor helicopters.
