Drones – An Introduction

Drones are flying devices cataloged as UAV, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.
Unmanned means that they fly without a human pilot aboard.

Drones were developed based upon military needs for performance of dangerous and difficult missions
trying not to risk human lives.

The technology evolution allowed the appearance of similar devices for civil tasks such as in agriculture, in scientific projects, answering to commercial needs and more.
The increase of the variety of types and the growing volume of production, brought a former expensive hobby to become affordable and popular.

Nowadays, the word drones is associated to small yet intelligent helicopters.

Drones Components:

Despite of the fact that all small aerial vehicles have similar component, the specific mission of each one is the fact that influences which components will be included and the quality of them.

All drones will have a body, a power supply, rotors, communication elements, flight control, remote control systems and more, according to their mission, like cameras, computers, weapons, etc..

The regulation of drones is constantly evolving according to the evolution of the industry and the location of the activity.

As mentioned before, the invention of unmanned flying devices was due to military needs.
The success of the idea induced the implementation of similar machines in different fields:

– Reconnaissance
– Defense
– Agriculture
– Picture and movies
– Journalism
– Law enforcement
– Search
– Rescue
– Scientific research
– Delivery
– Communication
– Hobby
